PMR291-01 Turkey, Anamur: this imposing fortress, Mamure Castle, sited on a spit of land jutting into the sea, was originally built by the Romans in the 4th century AD and was one of the last strongholds of the Crusaders until 1221 when it fell to the Seljuk Turks who extended it to its present size.
