Industry started here in "Trolldalen" in 1906, the original power station, having a 180m long turbine hall and being fed with a 410m head of water, was the largest high pressure hydroelectric power station in northern Europe. It is now a museum. The smelter is still powered by hydroelectricty, the water being impounded behind the Ringedals Dam in Skjeggedal, the distance. Taken 1995. |
