DSC 2137 Every year, on the Friday before the first Advent Sunday, the Nuremberg Christmas Angel officially opens the Nuremberg Christmas Market by reciting a solemn prologue. The Christ Angel draped in a white and gold dress and gold crown appears with her trumpeters on the balcony of the Frauren Kirche ( woman’s church) overlooking the city’s main square, Hauptmarkt crowded with visitors with many from around the world. Nuremberg's Christmas Market is one of Germany's oldest Christmas fairs. The pre-Christmas event dates back to the mid 16th century.
