Vadstena Kloster Kyrka (monastery church) (1430), and Rödtornet (Red Tower) (right), seen over Våttern, Vadstena, Östergotland, Sweden.
In 1346 Birgitta Gudmarsson (nee Persson and later St Birgitta) was given the Bjälbo Palace to found a monstery for monks and nuns. Her daughter Katarina (later St Katarina) built the church after Birgitta's death. The church contains Birgitta's reliquary. The Rödtornet (Red Tower) is all that remains of 15th century St Pers Church, which was the church of the towns people.
