View along the City Walls, Visby, Gotland, Sweden.
The wall is 3.5km long and 27 out of the original 29 towers remain. It is in two sections; the sea wall, which was built first, commencing about the middle of the 13 century, and the land wall. That in this picture is the land wall to the north of the Østerport on the east of the city. Dalmanstornet is the tall tower to the right of centre. Also note the small saddle towers. The black towers of Sankta Maria Domkyrkan (St Marys Cathedral) rise beyond the walls on the left.
