Founded in13th century by King Erik Knutsson in memory of the nearby battle of Lena (1208) against Sverker Karlsson. The three spires are said to represent the meeting of three Scandinavian rulers in 1258; Birger Jarl of Sweden, Hakon of Norway and Valdemar of Denmark.
